The thirtieth Irish Conference of Historians will explore aspects of the theme ‘Death &Dying’. Topics addressed will include the living and the dead in Irish pre–history; burial inearly medieval Ireland; death in revolutionary France; the dead of 1798 in Ulster; martyrdomin Britain and Ireland; suicide; Famine deaths; death in early modern London; death in Irishfolklore; obituaries; hunger strike; death during the Irish revolution; the Niemba massacre;death in eighteenth–century Dublin; communal death; Jewish death rituals.
Speakers include Guy Beiner, Ciara Breathnach, Edel Bhreathnach, Joseph Clarke, GabrielCooney, Vanessa Harding, James Kelly, David Lederer, William Murphy, Elizabeth O’Brien,Cormac Ó Gráda, Eunan O’Halpin, Clodagh Tait and John Wolffe.
